About The Event
We’re excited to feature new work DEPARTMENT O LOVE from Canberra screenwriter, acting teacher and director, Dale Thain!
DEPARTMENT O LOVE is a half-hour comedy television series, primed to become the Brooklyn 99 for Canberra - so get in on this!
This series follows two mismatched immigration visa investigators who must agree on what 'genuine love' is to keep their jobs and family lives intact.
Dale grew up in Hong Kong where dance and drama were always her passions, performing in dance tours to Taipei and Seoul as well as in dramatic shows and festivals in Hong Kong. This led her to study Drama at QUT on her return to Australia, graduating with Honours.
In the Canberra region, Dale has worked, performed and directed performing arts projects for over fifteen years, including improvisational works and a belly dancing troupe. Dale has a staggering back catalogue of musical and live production direction credits with young people of a range of abilities.
Dale is a screenwriter and is also developing her interest in filmmaking.
ABOUT THE SERIES
'Department O Love is a half-hour buddy comedy procedural, set in a contemporary government office workplace, investigating cases of suspected spouse visa fraud. This light-hearted series ultimately investigates the concept of genuine love, which is more diverse, hilariously messy and beautifully human than is captured on an 820 temporary spouse visa application form.’
You can meet Dale and hear more at the workshop, and connect via Stage 32 here.
